- Test the EGR valve operation and cleanliness, as carbon buildup can cause malfunction
- Examine the diesel particulate filter (DPF) for clogging or regeneration issues
- Verify fuel system components, including injectors and fuel pressure, for proper function
Fixes:
- Clean or replace the EGR valve to restore proper exhaust gas recirculation and reduce emissions
- Repair or replace the turbocharger if damaged or worn to regain lost power and efficiency
- Perform a forced DPF regeneration or replace the DPF if severely clogged to restore exhaust flow
- Replace faulty fuel injectors or repair fuel system leaks to ensure correct fuel delivery
