Engine NZ

Symptoms:
- Rough idling and hesitation during acceleration
- Difficulty starting, especially in cold conditions
- Reduced power output and fuel efficiency
- Occasional stalling at low speeds or idle
- Unusual engine noises such as knocking or tapping

Diagnosis:
- Check ignition system components: spark plugs, ignition coils, and distributor cap for wear or damage
- Inspect fuel delivery system including fuel filter and injectors for clogging or leaks
- Examine vacuum hoses for cracks or disconnections causing air leaks
- Test the carburetor or fuel injection system for proper adjustment and operation
- Verify timing belt condition and timing settings to ensure correct engine timing
- Look for oil leaks around valve cover gasket and other seals
- Conduct compression test to assess cylinder health and detect possible valve or piston ring issues

Fixes:
- Replace worn or fouled spark plugs and ignition components to restore proper spark
- Clean or replace clogged fuel filters and service injectors or carburetor jets
- Repair or replace damaged vacuum hoses to eliminate air leaks affecting mixture
- Adjust or rebuild carburetor/fuel injection system for optimal fuel delivery
- Replace timing belt if worn or out of specification, and reset timing as needed
- Fix oil leaks by replacing gaskets and seals to prevent oil loss and contamination
- Perform engine tune-up including valve clearance adjustment and cleaning throttle body
- Address any mechanical issues found in compression test with appropriate repairs

Prevention:
- Follow regular maintenance schedule including timely spark plug and filter changes
- Use quality fuel and additives to keep fuel system clean
- Periodically inspect vacuum lines and replace brittle or cracked hoses
- Replace timing belt at manufacturer-recommended intervals to avoid catastrophic failure
- Keep engine oil at proper level and change oil regularly to ensure lubrication
- Avoid prolonged idling and harsh driving to reduce engine stress and wear
- Store vehicle in dry conditions to prevent corrosion and component degradation
