Diagnosis:

- Inspect the turbocharger for signs of wear, shaft play, or oil leaks
- Check the condition and operation of the EGR valve and associated piping for clogging or malfunction
- Test the fuel injectors for proper spray pattern and leakage
- Examine the diesel particulate filter (DPF) for blockage or regeneration issues
- Inspect the glow plugs and related wiring for faults affecting cold starts

Fixes:
- Clean or replace the EGR valve and clean the intake manifold to restore proper airflow
- Repair or replace faulty fuel injectors to ensure correct fuel delivery
- Service or replace the turbocharger if worn or damaged to restore boost pressure
- Regenerate or replace the DPF if clogged to improve exhaust flow and emissions
- Replace faulty glow plugs to improve cold start performance
- Address any wiring or sensor faults identified during diagnostics

Prevention:
- Use high-quality diesel fuel and perform regular fuel filter changes to protect the injection system
- Follow recommended oil change intervals using manufacturer-approved oil to maintain turbocharger health
- Avoid short trips that prevent the DPF from reaching regeneration temperature; periodically drive at higher RPMs to facilitate DPF cleaning
- Regularly inspect and clean the EGR system to prevent carbon buildup
- Monitor engine warning lights promptly and address issues early to avoid severe damage
